...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Daily heat index values of 100 to 107.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Friday.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged exposure to hot temperatures and high humidity
may cause heat illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The first prolonged stretch of heat and
humidity of the season will amplify health impacts. Health impacts
will build with each successive day in the heat and humidity.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Street Machine National returning to Du Quoin in 2021

Du QUOIN -- The will return in 2021 to the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds.

The event, which draws thousands to Du Quoin, is set to take place Friday, June 4 through Sunday, June 6.

A press release sent to News 3 calls Street Machine Nationals “The Biggest Muscle Car Party of the Year.�

Sponsored by Continental Tire, the massive car show features stunning high-performance cars, hot rods, street trucks and much more.

The Street Machine Nationals originally debuted in Indianapolis in 1977 and moved to Du Quoin in 1986. It would stay there until 1998, but then not return again until 2013

Last year, the show was postponed due to the pandemic.

COVID protocols will be announced and posted closer to the date of the event.
