Authorities Investigate Events Leading Up to Death of 21-Year-Old in Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY, Ill. -- Authorities are looking into a death of a 21-year-old on Friday morning in Dowell.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office said members with their department responded to a report of a man down in Dowell at 1:45 a.m. on March 15.

Authorities arrived on scene on Union Avenue and found Seth Betts, 21, who was reportedly not breathing.

The sheriff's office said people tried to perform life saving efforts. Betts was then taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The sheriff's office said they are investigating the events leading up to the death of Betts.

Elkville Fire Department, Dowell Fire Department, Jackson County Ambulance Service, Jackson County State's Attorney asisted the sheriff's office in this case.
