BALLARD COUNTY, Ky. -- Ballard County officials have placed a burn ban on the county until further notice.Â
Citing the drought conditions, the county's Judge Executive Todd Cooper issued the ban on Wednesday morning.Â
Cooper said forecasts indicate no immediate relief to the drought and expressed concern that fires stemming from wood and brush would take over fire officials' resources. These reasons plus the overall endangerment to resident safety justified the ban.Â
Violators of the ban are subject to punishment by law.Â
