Carbondale police arrest woman for suspected store break-in, employee attack

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Police arrested a woman on Tuesday after she reportedly attacked an employee at a local business. 

Carbondale Police arrested Kodi E. Colbert, 33, of Carbondale, for the June 3 crime.

Authorities responded to the 800 block of East Main Street around 6:20 Monday night after reports of aggravated battery and criminal damage to property. By the time officials responded to the store, though, the suspect had left the scene. 

Officers on the scene say they were told an employee had been attacked. Officials worked to identify Colbert as the main suspect. 

Police arrested Colbert on Tuesday, June 4 on charges of Aggravated Battery and Criminal Damage to Property. She was brought to the Jackson County Jail. 

The Carbondale Police Department says the investigation is still open. Anyone who may have information on the crime should call police at 618-549-2121.
