...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in
Illinois...

Big Muddy River near Murphysboro affecting Jackson County.

Big Muddy River near Plumfield affecting Franklin and Williamson
Counties.

.The Big Muddy River continues to rise due to heavy rain last week
and over the weekend. The river will crest on Thursday before
starting a very slow fall.

For the Big Muddy River...including Plumfield, Murphysboro...Major
flooding is forecast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

* WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is
forecast.

* WHERE...Big Muddy River near Plumfield.

* WHEN...Until further notice.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 8:30 PM CDT Tuesday the stage was 28.2 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 30.7
feet early Thursday morning.
- Flood stage is 20.0 feet.

Carbondale student internship applications close Sunday

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Applications for student internships with the Carbondale government close on Sunday. 

Those selected for the positions will work in different government sectors. Participating departments include HR, the cemetery, Forestry & Parks, Community Development Services, Engineering, Building & Neighborhood Services, Violence Protection Programs and the Carbondale Police.

The city promises participants will build everyday work skills and gain hands-on experience for department-wide projects. 

Carbondale will host the eight-week program from the last day of May until July 26. Students must be 16 by the first day of the program to apply. Applicants are still eligible through their summer after high school.
