CHESTER, Ill. -- Police participated in a mini car chase on Friday after intercepting a driver with active arrest warrants.Â
According to a release from the Chester Police Department, the altercation began when police tried to stop a minivan with two males inside on Bridge Approach Road around 7:10 a.m. The officer recognized the driver as Nathan Seyler, 44, of Chester, who had active warrants from Randolph and Monroe Counties.Â
The officer said as soon as he turned on his siren, Seyler began to flee the scene. Seyler's car sped through the city and onto Route 3. He drove North at over 100 miles per hour.Â
Another policeman joined the chase and placed sticks in the road to stop Seyler's car. Seyler avoided them, however, and drove off the road.Â
Around Ruma, a passenger jumped out of the car. Police confirmed the man's identity as Ryan Hicks, 43, of Ellis Grove, and arrested him without further altercation. Hicks did not end up receiving any charges.Â
Police continued to follow Seyer north until he turned into a field near Stefani Road. The car stopped on the road, and police managed to arrest Seyer after slight resistance.Â
Officials took Seyler to Chester's Memorial Hospital for injuries before locking him in the Randolph County Jail on multiple charges.Â
