Dorena-Hickman Ferry

PADUCAH, Ky. -- The Mississippi River's high water levels has affected the Dorena-Hickman Ferry.

The ferry announced it is closed for an extended period on Sunday. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says the river's 42.98 river height essentially hits the ferry's 43 ft. closure rule.

It remains unclear when the Ferry will reopen. Officials say the river at Cairo is forecasted to keep rising to 43.5 feet into Monday. The current prediction indicates the ferry could reopen on Thursday. However, more rain may float through the area, further delaying the closure.
