MARION, Ill. -- Fire crews were called to downtown Marion for a fire in one of the businesses early Monday morning at 5:18 a.m.

Crews were called out for arcing power lines on the side of the building.

Once they got on scene, they found the building at 1200 Tower Square Plaza filled with smoke.

They then went into the building where they found heavy dark smoke and moderate heat conditions.

This building includes the Little Nashville Café and James Arthur Design Co.

They then found a fire in the basement of an attached building at 102 E. Main Street. They forced their way inside and then extinguished the flames.

Other responding units helped assist with extinguishing, ventilation and overhaul.

Surrounding businesses were also evacuated.

Fire and smoke damage were throughout the building, including smoke damage in James Arthur Design Co.

Marion Fire Chief Tim Barnett said this is still under investigation.
