Franklin County Emergency Management Agency prepares Benton, IL nursing home for tornadoes

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. -- Franklin County Emergency Management Agency conducted an emergency-plan preparedness exercise at an assisted living center in Benton on Thursday.

Members of the agency's Bureau of Preparedness visited the Benton Rehabilitation and Health Care Center to hold a "table topÌý±ð³æ±ð°ù³¦¾±²õ±ð." This session discussed the center's safety plan in the event of a tornado. Agency officials confirmed the center's employees understood the procedures to follow if the situation arose.Ìý

The center's leadership and staff interacted with public safety personnel to clarify and strengthen the plan. Event hosts asked a number of what-if questions to push center staff to better learn procedures for the situation. The discussion focused on the plan's strengths and built up weak points to better protect the safety of the center's residents.Ìý
