FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. -- A man previously convicted of the sexual assault of a child has been given a sentence.Â
Douglas Carpenter, 73, of Christopher, Illinois, received a sentence Thursday afternoon of 41 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. The sentence comes as a result of one count of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child, according to the Franklin County State's Attorney.Â

Carpenter was originally found guilty of the crime in October of 2023 by a jury.Â
