The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet alerted drivers that the crash was clear and the highway was reopen at this time.Â
Officials say one lane was kept open in each direction the entire length of this situation.Â
Traffic is still managing to revert to normal after the construction.
ORIGNIAL STORY -- PADUCAH, Ky. -- Two crashes in Lyon County shutdown portions of I-24 in both directions on Sunday morning.Â
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet reported the closure on Saturday around 10:15 a.m. Both eastbound and westbound traffic at mile marker 35.5 were shifted to only one lane.Â
According to the KYTC, two crashes led to the closure. One car was stuck in the median and the other vehicles were along the road.Â
The initial estimate for reopening took about 3 hours, meaning the road would reopen at roughly 1:15 p.m. However, a on the KYTC website still showed the road to be suffering from stand-still traffic at that time.Â
Drivers were urged to take US 62 between Exits 40 and 27 to avoid the traffic.Â
