JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ill. -- A portion of I-64 has closed into Jefferson County after an accident Friday afternoon.Â
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office posted about the closure on around 1:00 p.m. The closure sits on the eastbound side beginning at US 51 in Centralia and stretches to the Woodlawn Exit.Â
The eastbound entrance at Woodlawn is open.Â
Drivers are urged to avoid the area if at all possible. Those who must go through the area must reroute onto US 51.Â
No reopening timeline has been announced.Â
