Big Muddy River near Plumfield affecting Williamson and Franklin
Counties.

.Levels will continue to slowly fall on the Big Muddy River, but
remain above flood stage through next week.

For the Big Muddy River...including Plumfield, Murphysboro...
Moderate flooding is forecast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 9:30 AM CDT Sunday was 27.3 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall to 20.5 feet Sunday,
April 20.
- Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
26.6 feet on 04/20/1939.

...Breezy South Winds Expected Today...

South winds will increase today becoming sustained 15 to 25 mph
this afternoon along with gusts of 30 to 40 mph. The strongest
gusts are expected to occur across southeast Missouri into
southwest Illinois.

Gusty winds may blow around unsecured objects. A few tree limbs
may also be blown down. High profile vehicles may encounter some
driving difficulty, especially on east-west roads.

Illinois Arts Council brings grants to 九游体育 Illinois

ArtSpace 304 and the Illinois Arts Council

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Illinois Arts Council (IAC) has announced a series of events in the 九游体育 Illinois Region.聽

The council plans to use these sessions to inform residents about the grant opportunities for artists in Illinois, specifically the grants. The application for these two is open from now until July 19.聽

These grants go to nonprofit organizations focused on bringing art to local communities each year.聽

The IAC welcomes anyone with a passion for art to join these events. Some of the specifically targeted audiences include:聽

  • Personal, individual artists
  • Art teachers
  • Non-profit organizations with an art-focused mission聽
  • Local art organizations that meet/art applying for 501c3 non-profit status
  • City and library art programs聽
  • Local art councils聽

The sessions will last roughly an hour, with doors opening half an hour prior.聽
