SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- The Scott City Police Department bought bulletproof vests for its officers after local businesses donated to the office.

The police department posted on its Facebook on Friday morning to thank the businesses for their support. The companies involved in the purchase were Havco Wood Products, Miller Drywall and Interior Plus.

The "Angel Armor" vests will add a layer of protection on police in the field.

"The support of these businesses speaks volumes to their effort to keep our Officers safe and investing in our community," said Chief Christopher M. Griggs.

Scott City also donated to the cause.
