SESSER, Ill. -- A local lounge announced a transitional period in its operations on Thursday morning.

The Luna Lounge of Sesser took to Facebook to let residents know their plans coming up.

The news comes as the cannabis lounge works to open a new Dispensary,  in West City, which is scheduled to open next month.

The lounge cites backlash for the lounge's mission as the main reason for the move.

"As most people know, we haven't always been welcomed with open and loving arms by the community we chose to love," wrote the lounge on . "[We] have made some tough decisions to leave our home in Sesser to join a new family that has welcomed us greatly since day one."

Luna Lounge made sure to indicate the hate it faced in Sesser did not come from all sides, though.

"In the end, I will always appreciate the chance we were given -- the support of the community, specific council and city officials that did have our back. The people who believed in us and didn't judge us as the 'pot place' and nothing more," the post read.

The City of Sesser's official Facebook page showed support to the Luna Lounge following the announcement. The city shared the lounge's post and commented support on the original post.

"Your presence in our community has been greatly valued, and your contributions have made a positive impact," read the city's comment. "We wish you continued success and fulfillment in all your future endeavors."

The lounge says residents should not rule out a return to Sesser in the future.

"We have some beautiful, amazing plans set forth for us in the future, and we are so excited to share them with you when it's time!" the lounge said.

The lounge's owner, Momma Luna, concluded the post with a sentiment for the community that gave the lounge a start.

"I can't even begin to explain the thousands upon thousands of people who have graced the doors of our special little place and can't even put into words how special these humans are," Luna said. "The Luna Family runs so deep that we spend every holiday, special occasion and life experience side by side."

The lounge plans to open closer to the new dispensary, which is planned to open in September. It is a bit unclear where the lounge will soon call home, but Ash & Ivy will open at 9 Rend Lake Plaza. This will mark Franklin County's first dispensary.
