HERRIN, Ill. -- A man was arrested after attempting to flee police officers on a bike and ignoring traffic laws.

Michael K. Tucker was taken into custody on October 4 on the following charges:

  • Possession of a Weapon by Felon
  • Resisting an Officer
  • Fleeing or Attempting to Elude an Officer
  • Disobeying a Stop Sign

Tucker was originally seen leaving an alley in Herrin with a small backpack. Police noticed Tucker leaving the drug-activity-heavy alley and disobeying Illinois traffic laws on his bike.

The police attempted to stop Tucker with their car lights, but Tucker continued to run. Eventually, Tucker crashed his bike while trying to swerve around parked cars on 17th Street. Police were able to stop him on foot.

Officials found a small handgun in Tucker's clothes. The gun was a STAR 9mm pistol.

Tucker has been in Williamson County Jail since this night.
