GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. -- Graves County deputies sent a man to the hospital after a three-vehicle crash on Wednesday afternoon.

The crash occurred around 4:05 p.m. on Wednesday on US 45 South near Snow Lane. Deputies released details on the crash on Thursday.

The release cites Karen Clapp, 68, of Water Valley, as the first individual involved in the crash. According to officials, Clapp drove a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox North on US 45 South before entering the Southbound lane. Jason Adams, 45, of Hazel, is said to have swerved to avoid Clapp's car. It was not a complete success, though, as Clapp is said to have struck Adams' car on her passenger side.

Deputies say a third individual, Nathanael Gipson, 33, of Mayfield, was following Adams at the time of the crash. Gipson tried to avoid the crash ahead of him by moving into the Northbound lane, but Clapp is said to have still hit his trailer. As a result of this hit, Clapp's car is cited to have flipped onto its roof in a ditch on the Southbound side.

Officials state Adams slid into a ditch on the Northbound side of the road due to the crash and overturning. His car then slid into the Southbound lane, where he eventually stopped.

Adams was brought to the hospital by Mayfield-Graves County EMS. Officials say Clapp and Gibson did not wish to receive medical attention after a quick check by on-scene officials.
