.Historically high forecast rainfall amounts will heighten the risk
of flash flooding and flooding Wednesday through Sunday.

...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SUNDAY
MORNING...

* WHAT...Flash flooding and flooding caused by excessive rainfall is
expected. Preliminary projections of up to 1 foot of total
rainfall over parts of the area is not out of the question.

* WHERE...All of southeast Missouri, southern Illinois, western
Kentucky, and southwest Indiana.

* WHEN...From Wednesday afternoon through Sunday morning.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and especially low-lying and flood-prone
locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Multiple rounds of locally heavy rainfall over several days
will result in extreme forecast amounts of up to 1 foot of
rain that will cause the risk of flash flooding and flooding
to rise markedly.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flash
Flood and Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding
should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

Marion VA sets resource event for veterans

MARION, Ill. -- The Marion VA hopes to bring local veterans together for supplies and community on Thursday.Ìý

The VA has scheduled a Veteran Resource Fair and Town Hall for Thursday, July 18 at the Mt. Vernon ELKS Lodge. The Lodge sits at 1107 Jordan St. in Mt. Vernon. The event is scheduled for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.Ìý

According to the VA, veterans will receive services and information on available resources, VA Health Care, VA Benefits and the PACT and COMPACT Acts at the fair.Ìý

Execute Director Zach Sage is expected to take the stage as a key speaker.Ìý
