MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. -- Officials in McCracken County arrested a man on Thursday afternoon for an alleged robbery attempt.Â
Deputies arrived at Hank Brother's Tru-Value store at 3101 Lone Oak Road in response to a call the department received shortly before. A release from McCracken County Sheriff Ryan Norman stated the investigation led officials to identify Bryson T. Conkwright, 23, of Gilbertsville, KY., as the prime suspect in the crime.
The release states employees reported seeing Conkwright wandering the store with products hidden among his clothes. Employees approached Conkwright who ditched the items and ran away. Conkwright allegedly hit and knocked one of the employees to the ground in the process of leaving.
Officials stated they began an immediate search of the surrounding areas. Deputies eventually intercepted Conkwright around Utah Street and Devner Avenue.
Officials followed Conkwright for a "short distance" before catching him and bringing him into custody. The release from Sheriff Norman states one of the men working to capture Conkwright experienced a quick hit to the face and received minor injuries.Â
Conkwright received the following charges:
- Attempted Robbery, 2nd DegreeÂ
- Fleeing or Evading or Running from Police (on foot), 1st Degree
- Assault, 4th Degree
Conkwright also received an outstanding bench warrant out of McCracken County after he failed to appear in court.Â
