MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. -- McCracken County officials issued a warning to residents of new scams affecting the community.Â
The McCracken County Sheriff's Office says scammers sent fake paperwork to a local business asking for over $400,000. According to the office's post, the paperwork was crafted from a real bill from the State of Kentucky in 2018. In reality, the bill was for a much smaller amount; the large sum of the fake bill set off alarms in the business owners' minds. Â
Authorities believe the scammers reside in Kennewick, WA.Â
Officials say this scam has appeared twice in the County and expect similar bills to appear "many more" times.Â
