CALLOWAY COUNTY, Ky. -- Officials arrested a man on Tuesday after fleeing with an expired license.

Deputies noticed Mark Hutson, 42, of Murray, driving opposite them on Highway 80 East. County officials said Hutson was known to have an expired license, so the deputies attempted to follow him.

Authorities said Hutson started to speed away.

The deputies lost Hutson after he turned on Todd Road. After this, a warrant for Hutson's arrest was issued.

Later that night, at 11:30, officials once again spotted Hutson. Deputies recounted the events, stating the suspect made his way into Calloway County on Hardin-Wadesboro Road. During this time, deputies turned on their emergency lights and siren and began to follow Hutson.

Authorities said Hutson sped through intersections until he lost control and drove into a field. A technique on Hutson's car was to disable it, authorities reported.

While trying to place the suspect in custody, a deputy reportedly broke a finger. Eventually, the deputies secured Hutson in custody and he was taken to the Calloway County Detention Center.

Hutson faces the following charges:

  • Reckless Driving
  • Resisting Arrest
