PADUCAH, Ky. -- Several exit ramps will see closures beginning Sunday night in Paducah as crews work to clarify wrong way markers along interstates.Â
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced the final phase of the ongoing project on Wednesday morning. The ongoing work, which affects I-24, I-69, the Purchase Parkway and US 68, previously installed new signs marking "wrong way" and "do not exit" turns.Â
The final phase of the project will involve repainting and darkening the white lines at which drivers are to stop. The KYTC hopes these ongoing efforts will increase safety among drivers on the roadway.Â
Crews will reportedly work on the aforementioned roads beginning on Sunday, Aug. 25 from 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. Each stop should take roughly half an hour.Â
The closures will remain ongoing through September 5, should work go according to schedule. Crews will not complete any painting on Labor Day Weekend or on Wednesday, Sept. 4.Â
The KYTC provided the following list of exits that will see closures:
- Purchase Parkway exits 0, 1, 2 and 14
- I-69 exits 21, 22, 24, 25, 27, 43, 47 and 71
- I-24 exits 3, 4, 7, 11, 16, 27, 40, 45 and 65
- U.S. 68 at KY 453 (The Trace Road) in Land Between the Lakes
Crews will begin at Exit 3 of I-24 and move outward. Exit ramps in both directions will see closures.Â
