November 5 General Election - Projected winners and what you need to know

CARTERVILLE, Ill. (WSIL) -- Voters went to the polls and cast their votes in the November 5 General Election. Here are a list of the winners, ballot measures and of course the race to the White House...

The biggest question on the ballot is the President of the United States. President Elect Donald J. Trump is the projected winner over Vice President Kamala Harris. Trump is the Republican candidate. His running mate is United States Senator JD Vance. The Democratic candidate is Vice President Kamala D. Harris. Her running mate is Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. There are a number of other Presidential candidates on ballots across the United States.

In Illinois, there are three statewide advisory questions. 

This first question is on penalties for interfering with election worker duties. The second question is asking the voters about an additional tax for property tax relief. The third asks about coverage for reproductive treatments.

In southern Illinois, Incumbent Mike Bost (R) retained his seat against Brian Roberts (D) in the Illinois 12th Congressional District.

In Kentucky, there are a number of measures on the ballot, including the race for the 1st Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives. Incumbent James Comer (R) is the projected winner over Erin Marshall (D).

In the 1st Representative District for State Representative, Steven Jack Rudy (R) is the projected winner over Fredrick Fountain (D).

Staying in Kentucky, voters approved Constitutional Amendment 1 which prohibits persons who are not citizens of the United States from being allowed to vote in the state.

For the Constitutional Amendment 2, voters voted down the General Assembly to provide financial support for the education code of students K-12 who are outside the public schools.

Over in Missouri, Mike Kehoe (R) was projected as the new Governor. Kehoe faced Crystal Quade (D), Bill Slantz (L) and Paul Lehmann (G).

Voters also decided on the United States Senate race. Incumbent Josh Hawley (R) was the projected winner. Hawley faced Lucas Kunce (D), W.C. Young (L), Jared Young (Better Party) and Nathan Kline (G).

Missouri has five Constitutional Amendment questions on the ballot as well...

  • Constitutional Amendment 2 - Regulate licensed sports wagering. Click here for the results.
  • Constitutional Amendment 3 - Reproductive health care, including abortion and contraceptives. Voters approved this measure.
  • Constitutional Amendment 5 - Additional gambling boat license. Click here for the latest results.
  • Constitutional Amendment 6 - Support salaries and benefits for law enforcement. Click here for the results.
  • Constitutional Amendment 7 - Allowing only US citizens to vote. Voters approved this measure.

Missouri also has Proposition A where voters will decide to increase minimum wages on January 1 to $13.75 per hour and increasing $1.25 an hour each year until 2026. More than 1.6 yes votes were reported on this measure.
