CARBONDALE, Ill. (WSIL) -- One person is dead after a crash in Jackson County on Monday.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office said they received a report of the crash at 5:32 p.m. on December 2, along Giant City Road, just south of East Pleasant Hill Road.
Deputies with the sheriff's office, along with members with the Jackson County Ambulance, arrived at the scene.
The sheriff's office said Rex Aldridge, 66 of Carbondale, was driving a red 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck going south on Giant City Road when the vehicle skidded off of an icy bridge and crashed into a ditch.
Aldridge was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office Traffic Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash.
