One dead, one injured after two-vehicle crash in Franklin County

THOMPSONVILLE, Ill. -- One person is dead and other injured after a head-on crash in Franklin County Monday night.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office said it happened at 8:21 p.m. along South Thompsonville Road, just north of the Franklin/Williamson County line.

A caller dialed 911 and said there were two vehicles involved. Deputies and other emergency officials responded to the scene.

When deputies got to the scene, they found a 2016 Toyota Camry and a 2005 Ford F350 truck hit head on, the sheriff's office said.

Both vehicles were said to have significant damage to them.

The sheriff's office said Devin Chase Stanley, 32 of Galatia, was the driver of the Camry. Stanley was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ryan K. Sauerhage, 38 of Macedonia, was the driver of the F350. He was air-lifted from the scene for treatment.

The Illinois State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit is assisting in the investigation. Also assisting at the scene was the Cave-Eastern Fire, West Frankfort Fire, AMR Ambulance, Saline County Sheriff's Office, Franklin County Emergency Management Agency, and the Franklin County Coroners Office.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
