MARION, Ill. -- UPDATE -- The man struck in the vehicle crash in Marion Thursday has died.Â
Harold R. Cloud, 67, of Marion was pronounced dead by Police on Friday morning. Cloud died in Evansville at a hospital.Â
Cloud's death was a result of a crash involving a dump truck.
ORIGINAL STORY, Nov. 16 -- Police were on scene Thursday morning for a pedestrian vs vehicle crash in Marion.
Multiple police units, along with fire personnel, were dispatched to the scene at 8:08 a.m. The incident happened at the intersection of East DeYoung Street (Highway 13) and Washington Street in Marion.
Marion police said once they arrived on scene, they found a man lying in the street with severe injuries.
The man was later identified as Harold R. Cloud, 67 of Marion. He was then taken to Heartland Regional Medical Center and then to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, where he was listed as critically injured, Marion police said.
The driver of the vehicle was Dane Clark, 69 of Marion. Clark was not injured in the incident.
Marion police said witnesses stated Cloud stepped into the roadway and in the path of Clark's vehicle.
Two eastbound lanes were shut down and traffic was diverted around the crash scene while authorities were working the crash.
Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Units were on scene assisting the Marion Police Department after the crash occurred.
This crash is still under investigation by the Illinois State Police Commercial Motor Vehicle Officers and Crash Reconstruction Officers.
