Over 140,000 people visit Poplar Bluff during eclipse

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Over 140,000 people visited Poplar Bluff during the weekend of the total solar eclipse. 

The Poplar Bluff Chamber  that 145,000 people visited Butler County in four days surrounding the eclipse. The day of the eclipse accounted for 45,900 of those people. 

The Chamber partnered with a company to use geofencing and cell phone data to come up with these numbers. 

Poplar Bluff further reported it saw a $9.6 million boost to the economy from the increased tourism.
