...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Peak daily heat index values up to around 105 degrees.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Friday.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged hot temperatures and high humidity may cause
heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Police host active shooting training at Carbondale school

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Police hosted active shooter training at a school in Carbondale on Thursday. 

The Carbondale Police Department was on site at Trinity School for Active Shooter Response Training. Faculty and Staff learned strategies on how to react in these scary situations from law enforcement. 

"The training was well received and the participants did an excellent job of applying the strategies they learned," said the department on Facebook. 

Police thanked all participants for welcoming the department in the training.
