CARBONDALE, Ill. -- An EF-1 tornado is to blame for some minor damage in Williamson County during the recent round of severe weather.
According to the Williamson County Emergency Management Director Brian Burgess, the area was surveyed by the National Weather Service on Thursday in the southwest portion of Williamson County around Skyhawk Road. A preliminary survey indicated an EF-1 tornado hit the area on Wednesday with winds at around 90 mph.
Burgess said there was some minor damaged caused by the storm, including trees blown down, minor structural damage and power outages.
"As always, we need to stay weather aware during days like this and have multiple ways of receiving alerts," said Burgess.
