...FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...A portion of southern Illinois, including the following
counties, Franklin, Jefferson, Johnson, Perry, Pulaski, Union,
Wayne and Williamson.

* WHEN...Until 700 PM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Low-water
crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 556 PM CDT, Even though the heavy rain has ended,
substantial flooding continues across much of the warned
area. Between 5 and 9 inches of rain have fallen since the
start of the event on Wednesday. Only light drizzle is
anticipated through this evening.
- Flooding impacts will continue, with only minimal additional
rainfall expected.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Marion, Mount Vernon, Herrin, West Frankfort, Benton, Du
Quoin, Pinckneyville, Carterville, Fairfield, Anna, Johnston
City, Christopher, Jonesboro, Vienna, Rend Lake Area, Sesser,
Zeigler, Crainville, Cambria and Cobden.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Do not drive around barriers and find alternate routes if flooding
is observed.

...FREEZE WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM LATE MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH
TUESDAY MORNING...

* WHAT...Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 25 to 30 degrees
possible. Everyone should see a 32 degree low or close to it.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...From late Monday night through Tuesday morning.

* IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other
sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor
plumbing.

Big Muddy River near Murphysboro affecting Jackson County.

Big Muddy River near Plumfield affecting Williamson and Franklin
Counties.

.Heavy rainfall has ended across the area. The Big Muddy River is
continuing to rise and crests are expected over the next week.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

forecast.

* WHERE...Big Muddy River near Plumfield.

* WHEN...Until further notice.

* IMPACTS...At 34.0 feet, Many surrounding homes begin to flood.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 11:00 AM CDT Sunday the stage was 23.9 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 32.4
feet Wednesday morning.
- Flood stage is 20.0 feet.

Raising Cane's announces opening date in Marion

MARION, Ill. -- "Chicken, Chicken, Chicken, which combo you picking?" 

Raising Cane's has announced an opening date for it's Marion location. Residents of ¾ÅÓÎÌåÓý Illinois will be able to get some of the famous chicken strips beginning August 27. 

The restaurant originated in Baton Rouge, LA and is famous for serving one thing -- chicken! Guests can order combos of three, four or six strips, or a chicken sandwich meal. The chain is most known, though, for its secret sauce. 

The Marion location has promised some special promotions to get community members in the door on the first day. 

The first customer will receive a "special gift," according to a person involved with the opening, . The first 100 guests who purchase a combo in the restaurant will receive a hat and a free box combo coupon. 

The most exciting opportunity, though, is between 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. Anyone who stops by during this time can enter to win free Cane's for a whole year. 

Even if you can't make it early, stop by as the restaurant has promised giveaways and entertainment all day.
