SIKESTON, Mo. -- The city of Sikeston is preparing construction on its upcoming Visitor's Center and Rodeo Museum.Â
Officials held a walkthrough of the space on Tuesday. Marcie Lawson, the CEO of the Sikeston Regional Chamber and Area Economic Development Corporation, led the event along with members of Boulder Construction, who will build the space.Â
The center received funding from an ARPA Tourism Grant for $481,138. Extra money raised at the Balloon Festival and Eclipse celebrations will go toward the center as well. The site is the former home of the Sikeston Post Office at 215 N. New Madrid Street.Â
In addition to the welcome center and rodeo museum, offices will fill the first floor for the Historic Downtown Sikeston, Sikeston Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Sikeston Regional Chamber & Area Economic Development Corporation.Â
Construction on the center is scheduled to start before February ends.Â
