Big Muddy River near Plumfield and Murphysboro.

.Levels will continue to fall on the Big Muddy River, dropping
below flood stage near Plumfield Sunday, and near Murphysboro
Tuesday.

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

- At 7:30 PM CDT Wednesday the stage was 23.9 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
Sunday afternoon.
- Flood stage is 20.0 feet.

Sikeston Public Schools emphasizes safety at stadium events

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Community members who plan to attend an event for Sikeston Public Schools this school year will see extra security measures in place beginning Friday. 

The school system announced the installation of new weapon detectors at its Stadium and Field House. 

"We are excited to have this new layer of safety for our students, staff and patrons," wrote the school system on Facebook. 

Attendees will still be allowed to bring bags to events, though they will be subject to search. 

The new process begins at Friday night's Jamboree.
