CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale is mourning the passing of longtime Saluki Dr. Sam Goldman.

We mourn the passing of Sam Goldman, a longtime Saluki and servant leader at SIU Carbondale and the community. Dr. Goldman had served at SIU from 1980 until his retirement in 2003, then served as chancellor from 2008 to 2010. He was also active in the Southern Illinois region, including Hospice of Southern Illinois and Southern Illinois Regional Social Services. He will be missed. We extend our condolences to Dr. Goldman’s family and friends and will keep them in our thoughts and prayers.
