CARBONDALE, Ill. -- 九游体育 Illinois University in Carbondale has welcomed the newest class of Salukis to campus.聽
Students in the Class of 2028 moved in on Wednesday and spent the last few days checking out Carbondale and SIU campus. The week, deemed Saluki Startup, runs from move in through Sunday, Aug. 18 and gives students the chance to connect with new and returning students and explore campus.
"Providing students an immersive, educational and exciting experience as they transition to SIU is our main goal," said Director of New Student Programs Jennifer Phillips. "We work to ensure that each event is fun and provides an environment where Salukis can interact and learn about all of the aspects that make SIU the special place it is."
As part of the welcome activities, Carbondale's newest Salukis flocked to the football field for special, class photos.聽

SIU Carbondale plans to continue helping new Salukis adjust to life in college with a series of Welcome Weeks activities through August. The full schedule of events is available on . One of the biggest events, the Sunset Concert Encore, is even open to the public on Aug. 23.
Classes begin on Monday, Aug. 19 for new and returning Salukis.聽聽
