Superintendent of Mt. Vernon Township High School steps down

MT. VERNON, Ill. -- Superintendent of Mt. Vernon Township High School, Melanie Andrews, announced she will be leaving the school at the end of the school year. 

Andrews took to on Friday to announce her departure. 

"I will forever be grateful I was given the privilege to lead MVTHS the last four years," Andrews wrote. 

Andrews cited family health issues and her own stress levels for her decision. The announcement was met with much support and love from the school community in the comments of the post. 

"When I look back at the last four years, I will always think of all we have accomplished at MVTHS," Andrews continued. "I know those positive things will continue because of the hard work we’ve done."

The message concluded with Andrews expressing her gratitude for the "honor" of holding this position for four years.
