CARTER COUNTY, Mo. -- It was a hot day on Tuesday across the region; so hot in fact, an all-time record set back 62 years ago was broken, if verified.

February is a winter month so summer temperatures are something we aren't supposed to see here normally.

However, one community soared on the Fahrenheit scale and broke the all-time record high of the 58-county area for the month of February.

The National Weather Service in Paducah said a temperature of 90 degrees was recorded for Van Buren, Missouri, on Tuesday, February 27.

"If verified, this would be the warmest temperature on record," NWS Paducah said on X.

The previous record for the 58-county area for the National Weather Service in Paducah was 88 degrees in Doniphan, Missouri back on February 13, 1962.
