Three arrested tied with gunshot investigation in Pittsburg, IL

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. -- Three have been arrested after this morning's reports of gunshots in the area of 500 W. Colp Street in Pittsburg, IL.  

The individuals arrested were Jonathan M. Tolbert, Nita L. Tolbert and Johnathan L. Ross. No injuries were present as a result of the shots fired.

Williamson County Police spoke to residents in the area for more information. It was stated that J. Tolbert had first wielded a handgun after Ross had approached the neighbors' house claiming the pair was "spying" on his house. During the neighbors' conversation with Ross, N. Tolbert approached and vowed to harm a pregnant female on sight.

The neighbors asked J. Tolbert, Ross and N. Tolbert to leave the property. This resulted in a physical fight between all parties. J. Tolbert ended the fight by firing a shot from his handgun. No medical attention was required.

Police found the 9mm casing from the bullet and collected and photographed it as evidence. 

J. Tolbert was arrested for Reckless Discharge of a Firearm and Mob Action, while N. Tolbert was charged with Mob Action, Obstructing Justice and Assault. J. Ross was booked with Mob Action and Battery.

All three of the arrested persons were sent to the Williamson County Jail. 

The area has been deemed safe at this time.Â
