below flood stage near Plumfield Sunday, and near Murphysboro
Tuesday.

- At 7:30 PM CDT Wednesday the stage was 23.9 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
Sunday afternoon.

Traffic crash occurs in Franklin County, trapping one in car

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. -- A traffic crash has been reported on State Highway 154 that is backing up traffic.

The crash occurred Saturday morning in Whittington to the west of I-57.

The wreck has been described as a two-car motor vehicle accident, and at least one individual is trapped in the car. It is possible there was also a person ejected from one of the cars.

Sesser Fire, Benton Fire, Franklin County Police, EMS and an Air Evacuation team were all on sight. 

Drivers are urged to avoid the area and take a different route.
