CARTERVILLE (WSIL) -- After an active and chilly end to the week, a quiet weekend will be a nice break. Clouds will continue to clear overnight, with temperatures dropping into the upper 30s by Saturday morning.
Although it will be a chilly start to the day, Saturday is looking like the "pick day" of the weekend. We will kick off the day with plenty of sunshine and by the afternoon, temperatures will climb back above average. Highs will climb back into the upper 60s, courtesy of breezy southwest winds.
Saturday night a cold front will push through, ushering in much cooler air Sunday. Highs Sunday will only top out in the mid 50s, with winds out of the northwest.
If you've gotten a jump on your planting, keep an eye on Sunday night and Monday night. Temperatures in the upper 20s are likely. You'll likely want to cover or bring in any fragile vegetation.Â
