...HEAT ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Daily Heat index values up to 106.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Friday.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged exposure to hot temperatures and high humidity
may cause heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

WSIL (Carterville) -- It's another active day across the region with some severe weather and storms pushing through. Give yourself a bit of extra time as you're out the door because unfortunately, we'll see the most likely chance for scattered storms as many are on their morning commute.

If any severe weather does come together, largest threats continue to be large hail and strong winds. Even the non-severe cells will be bringing heavy downpours and lightning. 

We'll see a complete 180 by this afternoon with unseasonably warm temperatures and mostly sunny skies. Dry weather moves in later today and that pattern will continue through the rest of this week and most of next week.

Temperatures really climb as we head into Friday and this week. Our average high for this time of the year is around 77 degrees but we'll stay roughly 10 degrees above that.
