Morning Forecast February 4th, 2025

WSIL(Carterville, Ill.) -- This morning, we are tracking temperatures that are much colder than where we were this time yesterday morning, with temperatures in the upper 30s and lower 40s. Skies are mostly cloudy, with north-northeasterly winds at 10 to 20 miles per hour.

For today, we are tracking temperatures that will only reach the mid to upper 40s for afternoon temperatures in southern Illinois. However, we should see temperatures reach the lower 50s further south. You can expect to see winds persist out of the northeast at 10 to 20 miles per hour through the morning hours, with gusts potentially as high as 25 miles per hour. Winds will calm down after 12 this afternoon. Skies today will be partly to mostly cloudy, with less cloud cover expected in the afternoon.

Clouds overnight will quickly build back into the region ahead of our next storm system. Early tomorrow morning, we will start to see showers build back into the area. Scattered showers are expected through your morning commute, and we will see off and on showers persist through the entire day tomorrow. A warm front is expected to lift further north tomorrow afternoon. This will cause thunderstorms to form for the evening and early overnight hours tomorrow. A few could be on the stronger side, mainly in our southern counties. But, the risk of this is fairly low.

Rain and storms will linger through the first half of the day Thursday, then things will dry out in the second half of the day. Temperatures tomorrow morning will be in the mid 30s, but then highs will be in the mid to upper 50s. But, these highs will arrive in the late evening behind the warm front. Afternoon temperatures will be in the mid 50s. Highs for Thursday wil be in the lower 60s, but the temperatures for Friday will return to the upper 40s for highs.
