WEST FRANKFORT (WSIL) -- An iconic spring event in West Frankfort will be delayed until late 2020 due to the spread of Coronavirus.
West Frankfort's Mayor, Tom Jordan, told News 3 Saturday that the Old King Coal Festival is being postponed until the fall, possibly sometime September.
Mayor Jordan added that the safety of the city's residents comes above all else.
The Old King Coal Festival originally began as a fall event, back in 1941, but moved over to the spring in order to help free up availability for other fall events.
The three-day festival was scheduled to start on May 7th.
