Williamson County authorities arrest hit-and-run suspect, victim remains in critical condition

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, ILL. (WSIL) -- A Marion man has been arrested for his part in a hit-and-run crash that sent one person to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Williamson County Sheriff's Department says the crash happened November 27 at around 5:05 a.m. Sheriff's deputies received word that a 44-year-old man operating an electric scooter on Skyline Drive had been struck by a truck. That man was airlifted to a regional trauma center, where he remains in critical condition.

Authorities were able to track down the suspect using photo imagery. They arrested Guillermo “Henry� Lopez in connection with the incident. Lopez provided an interview during which he stated that he knew he was involved in an accident.

Lopez was arrested on multiple charges, including a Class 2 felony. He remains in the Williamson County Jail.
