Williamson County officials stop car, find drugs inside

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. -- Officials stopped a car on Wednesday and then found drugs inside.

Deputies with the Williamson County Sheriff's Office noticed a car commit a traffic violation on Wednesday, June 19 at 12:22 p.m. The car was reportedly driving south on Noah Avenue near 15th Street. 

According to information from the sheriff's office Facebook page, the driver was Monica J. Loftis. 

Officials brought a K9 officer to the scene to sniff the car. When the K9 smelled something off, the deputies searched the car. Officials say a white substance was found that tested positive as Methamphetamine. This Meth was reportedly in a black pouch in a purse belonging to the passenger, Jerri L. Stritzel. 

Officials took Stritzel to the Williamson County Jail and say they issues her a citation for Possession of Meth. 

Loftis was reportedly issued a citation for Failure to Signal when Required.
