Woman dies after being acquitted in her child's death

MADISON (WKOW) -- A has died, according to her attorney.

Attorney Zaki Zehawi represented 33-year-old Kelsey Kindschy in recent court proceedings.

On Oct. 5, 2023, a jury found °­¾±²Ô»å²õ³¦³ó²âÌýnot guilty of neglecting a child (consequence is death) - as a party to a crime. She was initially accused after her .

The child's father  ³Ù´ÇÌýneglecting a child (consequence is death) in Sept. 2023.

Zehawi told 27 News he was "deeply saddened" by °­¾±²Ô»å²õ³¦³ó²â'²õÌý"untimely death."

He said he doesn't have any conclusive information about her death, but his "understanding" is the medical examiner is still investigating.

"Over the course of the last year, I got the chance to know Kelsey and I will miss her," Zehawi said. "She was a great client and a great friend."

A family member informed 27 News of °­¾±²Ô»å²õ³¦³ó²â'²õÌýdeath. An Kindschy died unexpectedly on Oct. 24 after a "decade-long battle with addiction."

"Kelsey was fiercely proud of her [years] of sobriety and had made goals and plans for her future," the obituary reads. "She never wanted to be defined by her addiction. She was a beautiful, compassionate, hilarious, kind, and deeply loving woman who had fallen into its grips."
