Clarence Rupert leaving Saluki basketball program, will join Iona next season

CARBONDALE, IL (WSIL) -聽 The Salukis basketball program have now watched the second of its seven players in the transfer portal walk away from Carbondale.
Clarence Rupert, the junior forward, has one year of college ball left --- and is heading to New York.
The ex-Saluki will join Iona to play for the Gales.
Rupert spent the past two seasons playing for Southern Illinois, and was often in and out of the starting lineup.
This past season was his best one as a college player. He averaged 7.5 points per game on 56 percent shooting.
He also also pulled nearly six rebounds per game.
Rupert is the second known saluki to enter the transfer portal and leave.
Last month Troy D'Amico hit the portal and reunites with ex-SIU coach Bryan Mullins at DePaul.
