MARION (WSIL) -- Throw out regular season records because anything can happen in the postseason.
Marion High School hosted the 3A Regional Semi-finals Tuesday with 8th-seeded Herrin taking on top-seeded Mt. Vernon.
The Rams won both of their previous meetings this season, but the Tigers came to play.
In the second quarter, Mt. Vernon was trying to put the game away early. Jackson Creel used a screen to drain a three-pointer, putting the Rams up by 10.
Creel had a game high 18 points.
Herrin came alive in the 4th quarter. The Tigers find Brandon Anthony for three, tying the game at 49.
But the Rams answer immediately, as Amir Spann gets the reverse to drop. Mt. Vernon is now up by 2.
Herrin was down by 4 with just over three minutes left in the game. Jake Baumgarte makes the basket from corner, pulling the Tigers within 1.
With 59 seconds left, the two teams were tied at 60.
