Marion Softball powers their way to a playoff win, Carbondale soccer advances in a big way, Marion & Carterville baseball end in a 2-2 tie

MARION/CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- Marion softball remains undefeated and advances to the Class 2A Regional championship game with a 20-1 win over Herrin on Tuesday.

In the first inning, Marion's Karris Rhine hit a 3-run homer and next batter Abbi Sherrod followed with a homerun of her own.

Across the way, Marion baseball played to a 2-2 tie with Carterville. The game was called after six inning due to heavy rain. In the top of the sixth inning, Peyton Bittle delivered a hit through the left side of the infield to score Zachary Banovz to tie the game at 2.

Du Quoin baseball tops Edwards County 11-5 in the Indians final regular season game.

Goreville softball picked up a big 7-4 win over Nashville to close out their regular season.

In girls soccer, Emma Bickel and Daphne Johnson scored first half goals to help lead Carbondale past Olney 9-0 in the Class 2A IHSA sectional prelims. Carbondale will face Marion Friday at 6 from Marion after the Wildcats rolled past Mt. Vernon 9-0.

Carterville blanked Centralia 9-0 in a Class 2A Sectional Prelim. In a Class 1A Sectional Prelim, Pinckneyville wallops Harrisburg 8-0.
