Johnston City nears playoff berth after 46-6 win over Flora

The Indians (5-0) got off to a quick start in the first quarter with a five-yard score from the junior Nolan Causey. A two-point conversion made it 8-0 Johnston City.

In the closing seconds of the first quarter, the Indians drove deep into Flora territory before scoring on a seven-yard run from senior running back Ben Morgan. Another two-point conversion made it 16-0.

Flora (3-2) found some life in the second quarter. Facing fourth down for the second time in the drive, quarterback Parker Helm was flushed out of the pocket but kept his composure enough to find Trey Wells for the Wolves first score.

Flora failed to get the two-point conversion, leaving the score at 16-6.

But the Indians would respond on its next drive that ended with a handoff to Alec Wingo who took it in for the short score. Another two-point conversion made it 24-6.

In the ensuing drive about 30 seconds before halftime, Helms threw down field only to be picked off by Causey, who had a touchdown earlier in the game.

The Indians, averaging nearly 40 points a game, handed the Wolves a 46-6 at Dancey Field, spoiling Senior Night and ending Flora's three-game win streak.

The Wolves look to rebound in their final home game next week against Fairfield.

Johnston City looks for it's sixth straight win at home against Hamilton County. A win would clinch an automatic playoff spot for the Indians.
