Big Muddy River near Plumfield and Murphysboro.

.Levels will continue to fall on the Big Muddy River, dropping
below flood stage near Plumfield Sunday, and near Murphysboro
Tuesday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and will continue.

* WHERE...Big Muddy River near Plumfield.

* WHEN...Until early Sunday afternoon.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 9:00 AM CDT Friday the stage was 22.3 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
Sunday morning and continue falling to 14.0 feet Friday,
April 25.
- Flood stage is 20.0 feet.

Local fishermen in contention after day one

FLORENCE, AL (WSIL) -- The best of the best college fisherman are gathered together at Pickwick Lake. 206 boats, final tournament of the season. BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops.

McKendree University entered the tournament looking to repeat as school of the year. McKendree has never won the event but a pair of southern Illinois student athletes are giving the school their best shot. After day one of the two day event, Benton's Trevor McKinney and Carterville's Blake Jackson have teamed up to find themselves in fifth place with a weight of 16.84 pounds with their five best fish.
